Problem was Instagram
Guys it's been 2 weeks I have deactivated my Instagram account and I can't even describe, I feel so better. I have no clue what my frnds are doing, where they are going, what's happening on gram, who is posting what, no doom scrolling, no skin care bullshit, no bullshit motivation, no day in my life, etc etc I don't know suddenly life feels like 2019 Where the only focus was u,ur studies, and ur 2 frnds

Big plus one on this Instagram is the first thing everyone needs to cut out on
It just fills up all the empty spots in your day, and makes you feeling emptier somehow. Short term dopamine, long term stupidity.

Exactly, whenever I used to have even 10mins free,I used to start scrolling and at the end of the day used to feel terrible about wasting time

Agreed. Apart from getting rid of short term dopamine that it brings, you suddenly get to know that you have more time in a day to spend kn upskilling, catching up with friends, gym, explore city and what not!!
Honestly, it was hard for me in the first day and then the first week. But later, I felt so much better!

This reminds me of one of the things Osho said in one of his speeches/sermons.
It was something on the lines that you can't get rid of something with a thought of leaving it in your mind.
The very fact that you have made this post stating that you have left instagram shows that you haven't really left it behind.

Of course, they have not left it behind. It's just been 2 weeks.. it will take longer to be completely indifferent about it.

Why listen to Osho? Why don't you yourself be the judge of that?

I’m a 29M, living in Bangalore, working as a AI Engineer. Two years ago, I met my girlfriend and everything seemed perfect at first. 8-9 months into the relationship, I bought a bike to give us freedom to commute in this city. Soon after that, We come up with idea of making reels, thinking it would be just a fun weekend hobby. Little did I know, it would become the centerpiece of our lives.

She quickly became the face of our content while I stayed behind the camera, and before long, what was once a hobby turned into a relentless chase for likes and followers. At first, I thought we could manage it by creating a couple account or going back to private life, but she was all in, and soon, every outing was about capturing the perfect photo or video. It reached a point where even on my birthday trip to Goa, she promised not to argue, but every single day turned into a fight about photos and videos. She’d get upset if I suggested we just enjoy the moment without filming it.

This story seems copied from the movie of Ananya Pandey, CTRL.

You are on the path of Nirvana my friend ! Keep going, keep shining !

Yayay

I left it back 1.5 years and honestly I got to know who all are my true friends, folks who really cared messaged/call me with their life update. No bullshit show off and FOMO.

Wow exactly and tbh i also realized because since 2 weeks not even single person from insta texted me on WhatsApp asking why did you leave, just 1 frnd who is always close saw and texted on why I left

Trust me, just stay like this for 3 months and all your real friends will be discovered, rest all are social friends 😁

Haan bhai.. Leave insta because you get affected by others life events and showing off.. Come to Grapevine to show off about how you are better than others... 🤣🤣🤣...

I am EXACTLY in the same boat. I have not used X and Instagram for the last 2 months. Total game changer of mental health
