Poor Mental Health in Hyd

I am a Software Engineer in a company in Hyderabad location. My package is 5lpa. I have hectic and monotonous work life. I am actually not South Indian and have felt harsh racism here. People usually don't talk to me because I don't know Telugu. It has been 2 months now in Hyderabad and I am homesick. My expenses and loans are really high, so I am struggling financially also. I have no friends here and it's affecting my mental health. Can anyone suggest me how to make my situation better?

Not sure if helpful, but I put myself in your situation and thought what I'd do, while being aware of the fact that there's different between theory and practice.

I would embrace solitude for some time and direct all my energy into becoming a master in my field/skill.

It would help in many ways -
I) Help my mind concentrate on something, and overcome bad mental state which gets amplified due to various distractions,
II) Help me get better opportunities in future, which would increase my package, help me get out of toxic work culture and also give an option to move to a city where I'd feel good

unfortunately to play the economic game in tier 1 cities in India you need minimum 15-20L just to sit at the table. I know sounds ridiculous but even i belong to hyderabad more or less everything is getting expensive here also as time goes by

upskill and leave the job 5lakhs isn’t liveable income. Get a better job and improv your career. There isn’t much to it. Start exercising also lift weights and you will notice change in your mental health.

Relax and lay back for sometime

Also is 5lpa inhand if not man leave the company. They’re paying you filthy less than the required amount to surviveand I think that’s minimum wage too

Join Travel/Adventure Groups in Hyderabad via Meet-up.. One popular one I know is GHAC.. In general get yourself to move around.. staying in one place can get depressing very easily

Hey.. I really feel this badly. People here in hyd are good only but you see they mostly keep talking in telugu. Instead you can reach to then and communicate in English.

Remember that it takes time to adjust to a new place and culture. Don't lose hope and keep working hard to improve yourself. Consider upskilling yourself and increasing your earning potential. With time, things will improve and you'll find your footing. Keep up the fight! :)
