Peter Thiel on Lala companies

Quoting Peter Thiel here - "In the most dysfunctional organizations, signaling that work is being done becomes a better strategy for career advancement than actually doing work (if this describes your company, you should quit now)"

What do you think should be the balance between 'doing good work' (with a risk of making some mistakes too) and going out of your way to 'show that you are busy'?

Those who are happy with their company culture, how much do you have to 'show off' in order to survive even after fulfilling your duties?
