Good app. Strong retention. BUT, it’s not a Google killer. It is not a replacement to regular searches, it’s more a like a new news app or a Wikipedia alternative. Any thoughts?

Aravind Srinivas is looking like a fraud. Many of us would think that since he has worked with famous scientists like Pieter Abeel and Sergey Levine, we automatically assume that Perplexity has developed innovative models for inference. As @SuperSaiyanGoku has shown, it's looking like one of OpenAI wrappers. This is another one of those startups that going to crash and burn.

We should also remember that once upon a time companies like WeWork, Theranos were also highly valued and considered a next big thing

When your product is good you don’t have to go to every interview and news channels. He has spent more time on interviews than actually building something unique.

Sorry for late reply. They provide sonar from perplexity, gpt4 from openai, claude 3 sonnet and claude 3 opus from anthropic and mistral large from mistral.

And claude 3 opus is rate limited i.e. you can only ask 5 or 4 followups to a query from opus after this limit sonnet replies. You can open a new chat if you want to use opus.

This is another hyped thing. I have tried their pro and api. It is good but not like google killer. In fact i have been yearning to build my own solution using google serp for our product. I don't know why will someone not use gpt pro which has Bing connection for the same amount.
