Nodejs(mern) stack trauma!

So, I’m a nodejs heavy full stack dev with 4 years of experience — server-heavy, backend-enjoyer, built actual products (not just CRUD apps with “add to cart” buttons), worked in a product-based startup, and took full ownership of features like they were my illegitimate kids. Shipped code, handled infra, fixed prod bugs at 2AM — the whole trauma package.

Immediate joiner. Eager. Desperate. Slightly unhinged(🤏🏻)

But holy hell, what a time to be job hunting.

Been at it for a month, and guess what? Nobody’s hiring. And the ones who are? Either:

Some lala company with 10 people none of which are technical and 0 documentation, claiming itself to be an "industry disruptor"

Or a “fast-growing seed-funded startup” that was literally founded last Thursday by two guys in a cafe with a Notion page and a Canva logo. Who promises to pay in equity🤡 and not in actual money🥲

Even the interviews I do get feel like some Hunger Games meets Shark Tank shit. "Can you build an enterprise-grade app in 45 minutes on a Google Doc while we stare silently?" Like bro, I can, but also, why are you like this? Or just straight up copy paste some leetcode hard question! Hell, I was even asked who discovered nodejs and in what year! Lmao

I’ve seriously started considering if I should switch my stack entirely. Maybe become a Flutter bro(join the darth side) or god forbid a java dev. Maybe even start a chai tapri with React-powered QR payments. I’m this close to just printing my resume on a t-shirt and walking around HSR Layout hoping someone notices.

Also, let’s not even get started on mental health — because it packed its bags and left the building two weeks ago.

Anyway, to the folks out there —

Are y’all facing the same existential circus or is it just me?

Is it worth switching stacks?

Should I just start freelancing for dogecoin at this point?

Any actual leads? Referrals? Startups that aren’t run by 20-year-olds with pitch decks and daddy’s money?

Help a dev out. And if not that — at least send memes, man. Hope you’re all surviving better than I am.

Naukri has a bunch of companies which are basically 3rd party HR companies which hire for other MNCs. Give resume to one of them and they will automatically do the rest - send your resume to other 3rd party HR companies - who will also do the same lol.

I don't know about privacy but this will definitely increase your chances 😂

I've tried those... But haven't gotten anything concrete, most of them want me to switch to java stack lol

If possible I’ll highly suggest to switch tech stacks to something like Java, Golang or even Python at this point because honestly it’s the same issue I’ve faced for past few months. Trying to switch but I can see the clear lack of growth with MERN (mostly Node as your primary Backend language).

What's the feasibility of that tho? Like I got 4yoe and will the same be reflected if I switch my stack? Like will I be still on the sde2 payroll or will I be starting on a fresher's payroll..

True that...but I'd like my hair to not recede like it's the end of the world... All of my java dev frens have a bad receding hairline if not gone bald already🤪
