How is it possible for a govt to consistently fuck us over?

The problem,I have with their free vote bank politics is that those very folks aren't aspiring for anything better for themselves. Look at people in countries that were poorer at their independence and see how they are growing now. Singapore, China being great examples.

How is it even possible for politicians in our country to declare 1000's of crore in assets while contesting for an election and not have their tax details made public?

If I have to pay income tax for having hustled and grown in a company and earning a salary, where every month there is a review, feedback is provided and growth is measured.

Why not have a similar Development tax that the country shall pay to its citizena for not utilizing the tax money properly. Why the hell are folks charged 30-40% tax with little to no amenities?

Because people don’t vote for the right reasons and for the right person. Indian politics has been reduced to heroism. Everybody needs a father figure that will protect them and this narrative is set by the two major parties.

If you track state elections, nobody talks about state infrastructure anymore. It’s always national issues.

It is always a choice between two supremos, irrespective of the election. Even local elections are fought with national leaders’ faces. I won’t be surprised if this creeps down to the Resident Welfare Associations and even apartment elections will be fought with national leaders’ faces.

And to add to the sad fact - an income tax paying Indian is a very small percentage of the vote bank. If you create a political party and gather support of 100% of the income tax payers, the best you might win is a municipality election in one of the areas in one of the major cities
