Most bizarre candidate rejection I have ever witnessed
We had a debrief yesterday afternoon for a mid-level candidate who nailed all three technical rounds.. The guy was technically sound, communicated well, and honestly felt like a great fit. I was ready to roll out the offer.
Then the hiring manager jumps on the call and gives a flat no.
His reason? During the final round, the candidate's camera was on and his background showed a perfectly made bed. The manager seriously argued that people who make their beds that perfectly while working from home are too rigid. Apparently, this meant he would not be able to handle our fast paced environment.
I sat there on mute trying to process if this was a joke. It was not. They actually rejected a stellar candidate because his room was too clean and his bedsheets were tucked in. We are still trying to fill that exact same role today.

I think if an organisation has such type of leaders , we deserve to know the name so that we do not apply and waste time . Please let us know the organisation name

I wish I could drop the name, but I have to be careful about my own job right now. Definitely a massive red flag for the company culture though.

Sale depressed log , inko lgta hai sab inki tarah depression me job krte honge

It's just likely some other judgement based on language or religion or gender. But the manager is finding some other bullshit reason

You might be right. It really felt like he just wanted an excuse to say no and panicked when he couldn't fault the guy's technical skills.

That candidate escaped tyranny

Did he expect a messy bed in the background? And then that would be the reason for rejection. WOW!
