Idk what India you're talking about man, I wfh and every aunt and uncle ask me about my salary as the very second question after asking my company name. The salary hiding thing is more prevalent in corporates maybe. Also, this salary and money no-no talk culture is more prevalent in the west. In Germany (and maybe Europe in general) people consider it rude when asked about salary.
