I don’t see anything wrong with this. It’s clear that the agenda is not to give additional leave benefit, but to normalise women taking period leaves. At present, women usually use a different reason (headache/fever/backache etc) to apply for leave, while the actual reason is period pain/discomfort. Not every step is meant for a material benefit, you have to see the intangible value to the society.

Spoken like a techbro who hasn't interacted with a woman before.
You aren't guaranteed to fall sick for a week every month. Women are. Giving them extra leaves hurts no one.

SquishyDonut
SquishyDonut

It hurts the business. Get less pay and fall sick. If you are productive only 90% of the working day, get 90% salary. "Equality" comes with equal responsibility

What does this even mean? Are they increasing the number of sick leaves by including period leaves in it?

SquishyLlama
SquishyLlama

No, if you have period you can take it saying period leave but will be considered under sick leave. This org is a fucking shithole.

GigglyPickle
GigglyPickle

So they are not giving extra any leaves. Periods hai bolke sick leave le lo

Though I appreciate their efforts in writing a gender-neutral mail

SleepySushi
SleepySushi

Yes coz Periods is so gender neutral. They needed to write this differently.

Everybody...... Take a moment and think if your kamwali baai /maid or cook takes three days leave and says she has period what would your response be..

Then answer.

WigglyBanana

You take your own leaves with this same framework in mind?

CosmicCoconut
CosmicCoconut

What framework are you talking about. It is a statement not a framework.. Some BCG Matrix level speech this..

Lol do they know that sick leaves can be taken without being sick

ZippyTaco

I just gave an interview for PM here and the interview was with the Product lead. Random questions and upon asking about stability, he said that it all depends on you as we're a competitive environment.

MagicalNoodle

MyGate28mo

I don't understand what's wrong with the stability part? You are a team not a family. If you don't perform you should be out.

ZippyTaco
ZippyTaco

Wrong the way he answered it. A lot of red flags. He said that some people leave in 3 months too. A lot of other things. Performance shouldn't mean that I should work 12 hours a day for my job. If the job is 9 hours, I should be judged on 9 hours and not relative to someone who is working 12 hours.

It comes under the already sick leave or are they extending it? It's ambiguous

This is just a part of the increasing trend to be a virtue signalling woke. Women don't need special period leaves. Period. If women need them, let's not call ourselves equal with men.

SnoozyPretzel

Imagine being your balls being tugged on very hard every week for 5 days, where you can’t sit, stand or breathe at times and you still have to work straight for 8 hours minimum a day, sitting on that goddam table?

Need wfh atleast for periods

If not leaves, then wfh should be made mandatory for all companies for women 5 days a month. Even leaves should be given atleast 5 extra in a year, for those bad days. What do you think?
