Layoffs are suddenly cool

That's it. That's the reason. No recession, no lack of profits. Till now, layoffs were a sign of a weak corporation and something shameful. A company doing layoffs meant they were on the verge of a collapse but now its socially acceptable.

Instead of being ashamed, some companies are cleverly using the layoffs to portray themselves as the victim and as it gains more and more acceptability, more and more companies are using lay offs as cost cutting measures and jumping on the bandwagon before its too late.
