Late night Story Time : Best Summer Internship (You can't even imagine)
The story goes way back to 2017 when me, a 21 M was pursuing my MBA in Mumbai and I as others had to do a compulsory Summer Internship :)
So, it begins sometime in 2016 October when companies started doing campus recruitment for Internship & I along with few others got placed with Outlook India Magazine. Come January 2017, Outlook India informed our placement cell that they are CANCELLING the internship offers.
Now when 3 Months had already passed, dozens of gold companies missed I had no other choice than to look for another internship. Then comes the day I got an internship confirmed with a firm known as E Web Tech.
The internship started in the midst of Peak Summer in Mumbai in April. Role was to take the visiting card of the firm owner to business owners in and around the business complexes & pursue them to buy our services like marketing, AMCs,etc. and yes some telemarketing for the owner's health clinic too.
The Firm owner was the most unfriendly person I would have dealt with in my entire corporate life. He had kept an accountant who used to behave like HR. He hardly used to teach us anything. Yes us because there was another guy from my college who had joined this internship.
Fast Forward to the end of April, the firm owner blatantly refuses to pay us our stipend for 1 month of ₹5000. On the top of this he started putting allegations on us saying we haven't done any work in 1 month and we don't even be on the field for the required amount of time and leave home early. Both of us were in shock.
We complained to our placement cell since the internship was actually routed through the college. The firm owner continued to make the same allegations to our placement cell. The placement cell was also helpless here, since the only thing they could do was to blacklist this firm from our college and even tell the same to other colleges.
At the end of all this, we decided to end this internship then & there. Not only did we lose the stipend, we didn't get good exposure, we had even paid money out of our pocket to print the owner's visiting card and we even suffered mental trauma since this was actually our initial experience in the corporate world.
Later, I interviewed with another company Nestaway and interned with them in May. This internship gave me a bit of exposure, some 1000₹ stipend and some material to present in the internship viva.
