
Landlords are actual daylight robbers
Just moved out of my 2BHK and my landlord deducted ₹35,000 from my security deposit.
The breakdown? ₹15k for "painting charges" (standard scam, whatever). But get this: ₹12k for "kitchen slab depreciation" because apparently, placing utensils on the granite "ruined its natural shine".
Bro, it's a kitchen, not a museum. What was I supposed to do, cook in the air?
He also cut ₹8k for "balcony deep cleaning" because of pigeon droppings. Like I control the birds in this city!
I work 10-12 hours a day at my company, pay rent on the 1st without fail, and this is the reward. We literally fund these guys' EMIs and they still treat us like ATM machines.
What's the most ridiculous deduction you guys have faced?

Kitchen slab thing is bad. But the rest are acceptable. I rent my house . Every renter who visits, wants the house painted. Some even demand a different color just to be sure that the house is painted. They demand this even if the house walls are clean. Some even want the windows repainted.
In their own house do they repaint windows every year?
Cleaning charges, thats again very much reasonable. every one wants the house "deep cleaned" before moving in. Some even demand the "deep cleaning" be done in thier presence. Most of them, once they decide to vacate the house, the last month they dont clean anything. When they vacate, they simply leave heaps of garbage, packing stuff, waste papers, empty bottles, everything they don't need. Imagine a month of pigeon poop?
Renting a house is big headache in India. Sometimes if i land with a decent tenant, i dont even increase the rents yearly, fearing he might vacate.

An not to forget - any tap or fan or tube light goes bad, agreed, the house owner has to change it. but these renters wont accept anything other than premium products. one asshole renter wanted only kohler taps for the bathroom. Am pretty sure in in home state he was pooping in the open.

Then it's yours house too . Do something to stop pegions add some thing there. Also you guys earn my money and every house need maintenance so I think from one rent you guys can do that.
