Do companies extend joining date ?

I requested new company’s hr for extending my joining date as my current company manager isn’t releasing early . As a result need to get joining date extended by 2 weeks

Hr informed he will need to get approvals and will get back next week Monday. I also shared him mail as well but didnt get any reply from his side.

I am kind of scared if hr will extend joining date now q😥
