Joining a competitor in the same client project

Can someone please help me understand if it is legally okay to join a competitor company in the same client project where I'm currently staffed? I'm currently part of a startup and the competitor is a big 4.

Legally ok. Ethically also ok.

Whats morally grey is you servicing Client A and then servicing Client B who is a primary competitor for Client A.
