Job hunt
I have 8 years of work ex. and have been looking for a job in strategic marketing/digital marketing for over a year now. It's mentally exhausting and demotivating. Is this how tough it generally is?

Very true. The reason is that there is over supply due to low barriers in entry for Sales and Marketing roles. It is very easy to enter (but very difficult to master) this domain.
Secondly, the market is specifically down for digital marketing roles as it is the first casualty in higher CAC companies. Marketing is in many ways a Cost centre and not a Revenue Centre and this realisation has hit it hard.
Thirdly, like everybody else mentioned, the macro- market conditions are not conducive for a change.
It is indeed super hard and it took me well over a year to get a new role and that role was not as expected too.

It wasn't this bad pre-covid, but tbh marketing has extra competition these days because almost everyone's into marketing. Bad job market + extra competition.

Yes, due to current market down run, the demand (openings) is very less.

Will doing some sort of course improve my chances? I'm a hard worker but I just can't seem to crack anything worthwhile
