Internal PM - Good choice or bad?

Hey everyone,

I am being offered an Internal PM role - for managing tools and platforms of the company. I have 4.5 years of experience and so far I have worked on B2C and B2B product previously.

I want to understand whether this will be a correct career move in following aspect -

1. Does internal PM role offer better work life balance compared to external/ customer facing PMs?
2. Would this be seen as a step down? Could it affect my chances to get back into customer-facing PM roles (B2B/B2C) later?
