Indian Tourists Are Conquering the World

  • Indian tourists are increasingly traveling abroad, driven by a booming middle class, budget flights, and Bollywood influence.
  • International departures from India more than doubled to 27 million in the decade to 2019, with overseas spending tripling to $33 billion by 2023.
  • Countries like Thailand and Malaysia are reaping the benefits by simplifying visa processes and recruiting Bollywood stars as brand ambassadors.
  • Western countries are slower to adapt, with long visa wait times and high fees deterring Indian tourists.
  • Direct flights and budget-conscious travel options are making international travel more accessible for Indians.

I think we are in the top two because of our high population, not because people have more disposable income. Plus, international travel is the new way to show off in front of family and friends, which we Indians love.

We need to spread awareness amongst Indians about tourism etiquette because our image is already very bad in the world.
