Unacademy Layoffs Season 20
New silent layoffs at the end of November. Some teams are merging.
So team members will be moved to new teams and then laid off 😞
Unacademy will now reach an irrelevant status like vedantu etc
Unacademy is classic case of wrong hiring. Previous COO, almost all the BU heads, current marketing head, while best example for worst leadership is GM himself. You will hardly find any leader in office whom you would want to lookup to.
@Bhismpitamah this is the story of entire Startup ecosystem. Super narcissistic impatient founders with ambitions of big empires dreaming of hyper utopian tech with no empathy or people management perspective.
They don't even care about money, just their standing in the pecking order
Couldn’t agree more.
Real problem is that even when there were some good folks, GM hardly ever listened to them. He just he did what he pleased, leading to the state where unacademy is today. While few leaders did try to bring change, The incompetent ones simply gave up early as they didn’t have spine and eventually become a puppet to Gaurav. I really wish there never comes a stage in my life where i have to be Yes-man for people like GM
The previous COO hired all his unemployed Oyo friends. Gave them huge salaries.
First they all fked oyo, got kicked out.
The whole gang then joined unacademy, fked it and left
Why is grapevine a GM racing machine?
Because he spends 14 hrs a week here ;) (70 hrs * 0.2)
Heard of this leader from a contact who licks GM's ass. Doesn't know a thing about business or a category he's handling. People apparently call him RRR. Brainless and most insensitive leader.

After a confirmed research, following resignations are happening at Unacademy, resulting in a massive instability in the organisation
I see a lot of posts about WLB, I want to know what do you consider as a decent WLB. I will go first.
Rule of thumb If you get work thoughts outside 9-6 or weekends, it's not WLB.
Micro-management is the biggest red flag for me and also night shifts.
This WLB is a shit dream; just a lie. Org like Google is pushing AI team more than 80 hours a week!
