Illegal Visa Network Fleeces Students Out of Millions

  • A BBC investigation has uncovered a global network exploiting international students by selling worthless visa documents for up to £17,000 each, promising jobs in the UK care industry.
  • Middlemen, posing as recruitment agents, preyed on students, leading to the rejection of their visa applications by the Home Office due to invalid paperwork.
  • Taimoor Raza, a key figure in the scam, sold 141 visa documents for £1.2m, with many students losing their entire savings; he denies wrongdoing and has repaid some money.
  • Victims, too afraid to report to the police, have sought help from the Sikh Advice Centre in Smethwick, which has managed to recover some funds and is now working with the National Crime Agency.
  • The UK government has stringent systems to prevent visa fraud but needs to support victims and collaborate with community leaders to tackle the issue effectively.

There has been a case of visa network student work fraud in the UK. The hope for a good work opportunity in the UK market turned into a nightmare for 86 students, as they were cheated by an international network of fraudulent middlemen. Each student was promised a job in the UK care industry, for an amount of Rs. 17 lakhs, which was to be paid upfront. This was for getting sponsorship certificates, which actually should have actually been free. The accused, Taimur Raza fleeced the students for an amount in excess of Rs. 13 crores and sold 141 fake visa documents to them. The hapless students have taken support from the Sikh Advice Centre at Smethwick, although very little funds have been recovered till date.
