Same thing I have been worried about lately but I think just the testing will not be enough you have to have the development skills based on that sdet roles and survive but just manual qa not sure about them I have trying to switch to dev from qa role but based on qa experience companies do not want to take risks and waste their money better to learn more than just normal testing.

Can you please share how much experience you have in testing?

Testing is not going away for sure.

It is just that like other roles it has evolved a lot.

And for testing it seems too fast or overwhelming.

Because for development background people, it's comparatively easier to grasp other skills (DevOps related and/or Full Stack related) since they are already good with one tech stack (back-end or front-end).

For testing, many people used to choose this by considering it as less to non-technical role requiring low to no coding knowledge.

So if you are keeping in sync with evolution then no need to worry, if you are not keeping then also don't worry but start progressing in the direction of evolution.
