I feel drained being a introvert in Consulting

It was all going good until i was a Scon, as soon as I became a PM I realised people talk a lot. Some talk a lot , weather/ this random stuff. I have difficulty in trying to speak only. I feel drained in so many calls. I just want to do my work and leave, not interested in politics. I have been the same throughout my life, I can learn a new tech but I cant talk like others. Question is- changing myself, is it worth it?

You can be an introvert, but you can still listen and respond properly You don't need to do it all the time

Introversion is more about what you find energy in. If people consistently notice you barely take interest in what they're saying outside of work - it may lead to them trusting you less, and overall you not growing as much within your line of work.

Il paint the room for you, 6 managers in the team same project 7 plus years , all of them speaking so much(both work plus other things), somewhere I (new member) am lost there. Its in work and outside work things.People would jump to get the spotlight. Problem is within me as well and I acknowledge that but they make me feel so small whenever I speak. I feel miserable , my manager doesn’t even remember my name ( I felt like a ghost in that room) while acknowledging the team, someone prompts my name as he forgets. I was humiliated to the core in front of my team and wished to leave asap. Tell me what would you do if you were me

Assert your personality but not taking any nonsense from anybody. Also improve a bit mechanically. No need to involve emotions in everything. As job requires a bit more involvement, speaking etc do it mechanically.

I totally understand what you mean. Being an introvert in a business that is so much about selling and presenting and showing up is hard. It drains the energy out of you

I feel you bro! 😄 That’s why its better to be in tech, being a PM/BA etc, you must attend lots of calls and meetings, and attend tons of gossip meetings too, so well…
