I am UnpaidIntern, I’m building a new product that will change how hiring happens in India. I need your help to build it right 🙏🚀

On what we’re launching - more to come very soon. But until it goes live, as we build the product, need some help from you folks (whether you have applied to jobs, or if you’ve hired people yourself) to answer some questions.

It’ll be super helpful to learn from all of you, and put those insights into the product.

Extremely excited and passionate about it, and cannot wait to hear from you guys 🧡

UnpaidIntern is just my username. It started out 2 years ago and has just kind of stuck.

IRL I have 7 years of experience now, across different startups and large companies :)

@UnpaidIntern I did research on this topic for 2 months, and arrived at the conclusion to not do this basis below point.

  • Too much of a crowded place for newcomers. Already a lot of tools exist. You name a problem and I have an answer.
  • Max you can do here is AI, but this comes at lot of recurring cost. Forget about one time setup cost of infra. From the day 1 you would require to have 6lac per month if focus on AI based solutions. Need to buy GPU, server, AI integration API, Auth API, Micro service ApI etc.
  • Egg and chicken problem. Who comes first on your platform? You need to grow the user base in a balanced way, like a bank build it's book and maintain loan to deposit ratio.
  • Thinking of bringing users from LinkedIn like platform? Bhai mat karna.
  • Verifying users before onboarding is difficult.
  • Naukri has 60% mau and more than 3 million new users every year. Competition is tough.

6 lac per month!? Seems high. I know a startup Aipply that works in a similar space and they spend lesser

Hey @corporateMazdoor
Knowing common patterns in challenges both job seekers & hiring managers face will help focus more on those areas.

On the vision - still in development but will make a post on it soon.

TG - initially people with 1-5 YoE, starting out with a focus on engineers

My pain point is that I dont get exact roles for which I can apply for based on the work ex/skill. every company has a different name to role, which makes it difficult to apply job for

  1. Not providing salary band.
  2. Vast jd, not focusing on key tech

Most hiring platforms are being made with recruiters pov, and not candidates. The ideal scenario is to make both parties win, yet most tools are to ease the pain points of recruiters. Something that integrates both would be great. For ex, a candidate should be hand held to create a winning profile to attract recruiters, which can include proof of work, some projects , round 1 profile etc etc.

This is already a heavily bloated domain right now . You me or anyone can't stop or change anything. The time you come up with a solution. 1000000 more graduates will come in the market . Your solution will go to roads again . After ai the number of humans needed will also reduce and is reducing crazily . Im seeing companies running with 5 employees serving products for 2-10 million dollars .
