How to handle changes, stress and fear of getting fired

I recently changed my job, 3-4 months back. It was a hard time finding a good job profile with good offer, after almost a year of searching amd giving interviews i found my current job. Luckily, my interviews were very good and i was offered more than what i had asked. After joining team, i realized that they are looking to prepare for some regulatory changes and my role was pivotal in that. I kind of got to work and contribute on my own and my manager and his boss liked me. I was getting set but then last week, company announced some changes in top leadership and my manager's boss got a new boss. Now this guy seems little tricky and i don't know what all changes he would bring. As of now he seems to be sure of expanding the team/work that i do (related to regulatory stuff).

Now, these changes has got me a bit nervous. And i am kind a bit afraid about my job and its future. This is causing me stress. Any ideas or thoughts that can help me navigate.

Just relax, you're relatively new to this role. Get some info on the ways of working and expectations from your manager and get yourself aligned to adapt to the situation. Also focus on the deliverables, up-skill if required.

Focus on your skill and don’t say no to anything even though it’s out of your core area. I have known people who were developers and contributed to marketing. Widen your sphere of influence, become a Swiss knife.

Be prepared for layoff even if you aren't getting laid off. Best way to handle that stress.

Either have job options in hand by interviewing occasionally, or start a side hustle that can maybe become main hustle.

I am in the middle of an impending layoff so can relate. All I know is this is beyond my control and has nothing to do with my performance. Strategic decisions can make most performant folks redundant. I have simply accepted whatever may come my way. Slowed down on my work schedule a bit and waiting for things to unravel. For you I would not recommend to slow down or something .. just stick to your daily deliverables and do your best since you recently joined. You have to forget about the noise because thats beyond your control. It’s a hard earned job for you but no point in overthinking if you cant influence.
