SRE is a very crucial role. There's always oncall rotation in orgs. And mature orgs focus more on solving the oncall issues by getting to the root of it so that oncalls can become a breeze.
It totally depends on what kind of org you join and how they think about these things!
In general, tech doesn't have high WLB in most roles, hence the good pay you get
