How is this embedded software domain compared to sde roles?

I worked as a fullstack developer for around 3 years. I am working as an embedded software developer currently developing device drivers for microcontrollers. I have completed 1 year as an embedded software developer. I am a computer science engineer. I am in dilemma whether I should move to sde role or stay in embedded software domain. I just know that I love coding be it for web applications or microcontrollers. But I don't want to go in depth of electronics and hardware stuff. I don't know much about this embedded software domain. Please guide me what roles we have in embedded software domain which involves more of software and coding related stuff and less of electronics and hardware.

Bro, stick to sde roles. Embedded software is too niche and boring af. 😴 If u love coding, sde gives u more variety and opportunities. Plus, no need to deal with annoying hardware issues. Just go for it!

But what about this AI noise ?? Won't it impact SDEs in just 2-4 years??

Thanks for your views...I myself want to swit h to sde role since I enjoy that more and it has better compensation conapred to embedded field..But in interviews I will be competing with ppl who are wrkng in sde roles in their current compny while I am wrkng as embedded sw engr ..why will company favor me?

Also do u knw any1 who has switched from embedded to sdw role?
