How do I switch from Analytics to Data Science?

I am currently a Senior Business Analyst with decent knowledge of Python, Sql and good analytical skills. How can I switch to core DS. I am also pursuing online masters in Data Science from a top university to help me with credentials. What kind of projects should I undertake to create my portfolio ?

Since you are mastering DS itself from university, try doing some hands on projects and learn stuff about deployment which is essential these days.. with these combo it would be best along with ur masters..
