How do I move ahead?

Completed my BTech from an infamous tier 3 college in NCR. Somehow got a remote job in a small private company as a Data engineer (Databricks platform), my desired role in my last semester, although at a low ctc of 4 LPA.

I worked there for 1.3 years, as a team member in a couple of migration projects. Was hoping for an increment as I received good feedback from my manager.

The last couple of months were really slow as the company couldn't secure any projects for a while and started by laying off low performing team members. This alarmed me and I started to prepare myself for a switch.

Then there comes the bomb at the start of this month, we're told that the company has decided to end its partnership with Databricks and our whole team of 40 members will be laid off this month, only leaving us with 25 days to look for other opportunities.

I've been applying relentlessly in the NCR region (relocating would be a bit difficult as I have an apartment here), but with less than 2 years of experience it hasn't resulted in any interview calls yet. I have intermediate level skills in Databricks and Azure data engineering platforms along with PySpark and SQL. Also cleared the Databricks Data engineer Professional license certification exam earlier this year.

What would be your suggestion for me, what should I do to increase my chances of getting hired in the same field in a decent company?

How come were you able to buy apartment at 1 yr experience?
Putting location constraint for jobs, at this juncture of your career, is very illogical and unwise. You should be willing to move anywhere across the world.

My parents bought it as an investment last year, I’ve been living here since my last year in college (2024) as it saves me rent and other hassles. Also I believe the entire NCR (Delhi, Gurugram,Noida) being one of the major IT hubs in india, there must be something out there for me right? Although if it comes to that I'll be open to relocating anywhere in India.

Also, adding this if anyone would want to know. The company came to this decision most likely due to the in-house Solutions Architect overlooking the entire team decided to quit and start their own venture.
