You can always change to other companies in Mechanical only. I have also seen Mech guys starting their own ventures after a few yrs. Shifting into IT will be career suicidal for you.

My job revolves around Operations not much mech. stuff

What ia your total exp in mechanical field?

2 years

There are plenty of non IT roles in MNCs. Robotics, medical instruments, aviation, etc. are all domains where I've seen mech bosses leading mixed teams that included mech engineers too. A purely Indian work culture is pretty toxic. 6-day weeks, extreme overtime, intrusion into personal time, bosses getting personal work done through subordinates, etc. Indian bosses in MNCs behave better. By all means, switch! Learn some coding and software engineering, not because you will write code, but because you may have colleagues who do. It's better if you can understand their perspective and maybe even lead such teams, a few years later.

U r risking to have thrill? Are u serious? U have such luxury to risk? Please mention your years of experience

IT jobs are very risky nowadays due to AI. So staying in the same field where you are would be great considering current situation. Maybe you can switch to some other company but don’t come to IT now.
