Help me decide between these two companies.

Hi, so for context I will be graduating out of college by April 2026. I am enthusiastic about Data Science and a career in it.

I have two offers and I am extremely confused about what to join.

Option 1: MathCo, Bengaluru.

  • Trainee Data Analyst role.
  • Intern salary: 20,000₹ per month. (4 months of Internship)
  • FTE conversion based on performance, salary: Year 1 - 5.5 LPA, Year 2 - 8.5 LPA, Year 3 - 12.5 LPA.
  • Negatives: So many bad reviews online, few of the positive ones being visibly paid PR comments. So many highlight bad work-life balance, High pressure, Possible hire-and-fire culture. I might have to relocate to Bangalore.
  • Positives: One of the biggest growing companies in Data science space, Steep learning curve and many opportunities.

Option 2: Hexaware Technologies, Coimbatore.

  • Data Engineering intern.
  • Intern salary: ~around 20,000₹ (not confirmed)
  • FTE conversion possible, no idea about salary.
  • Negatives: Stagnant career Path, Lesser learning curve.
  • Positives: Job security, MNC and widely known, Closer to my home so Quality of Life is better.

I am looking for a better Career progression. I am ready to learn but Hexaware's Fame and Quality of life, confuse me, and now that the nature of projects in both are related to Data Science, it's exceptionally hard to take a decision.

I request for some wisdom on your part and give me a proper advice. Thanking you.

You say you're enthu about data science. Then you compare the money. Then you say you there is quality of life.

You cannot have all 3 in the initial stage of your career.

  1. You are young. Experiment. Take risks.
  2. Hexaware is a huge company, you can join them any time
  3. Mathco may have mixed reviews, but it's Bangalore. You will network, see the tech, get to switch. Mentally plan to switch on 1-2 years if it's too toxic
  4. Learn to filter advice from ppl,e.g. those worn out from their experiences like being far from home, poor career growth, poor pay hikes, etc.

Hexaware is reputed and safe to join. Closer to home is better as you will be sitting upskilling instead of doing household work only.
