Hardware has always been an important part of tech and businesses in general. Leaps in hardware development helped bring AI to fruition after all.
Just that hardware itself in any sector isn't a blind bet worth taking. TV and computer margins are less than 5% in most cases for example. Extreme competition drives down margins razor thin, plus r&d has helped reduce costs by a lot.
Which hardware gets critical mass in adoption is the main factor worth considering. TVs took a long time from invention to being a household product.
