Getting macbook from the US

Hi everyone, my friends are going to the US and I wanted to buy MacBook there and then they will bring it back to India.

I had read that it cheaper that way, but I am not sure by how much? I think it is cheaper than the student pricing here. Should they just buy it in an Apple Store? And any other thing that I should aware about the purchase?
