Thats the bare minimum pay one can expect even as an intern. Thats not overconfidence. They just don't want to do free labor and be exploited lol

@roct I dpn't deny, I'm all for good pay. Given that there are companies willing to pay

What labor? Half the time ftes would leave their own work to help the intern learn on the job. Most interns don’t help the company, they are more of an extra work.

I wouldnt it, If you expect someone to work full time as an intern, you should be paid fairly and with leaves, I secured one at a company with 1 leave allowed a month along with 5 working days and alternate Saturdays, my pay was 20k, although if I negotiated better, it'd be 25k or 30k if I am being honest

@Enolagay When you don't have choice, cannot choose right? My point was that

@BiryaniEnthu Your line of work is HR ?

That's the bare minimum anyone can get paid. Also, why would any reasonable company give meaningful work to someone they're not paying? They can't hold a person accountable for any work if they're not paying them cos the person can just do whatever they want since there are no consequences πŸ˜‚ And from the intern's perspective, companies offering unpaid internships are all no-name companies with no recognition anyway. So it's better to just make a project of your own choice which will probably align better with your goals and give you full flexibility. And you can always hit up some contact to get yourself a fake internship certificate lol.

@BaatMaan My point was on humbleness and not money. I'm up for everyone being paid more than needed!

My point is that it's not about confidence. What I'm saying is that no matter how good(or bad) you are, it simply does not make any sense to do an internship if you're not getting at least 10-15k/mo, and even then there could be other factors which could make it not worth doing. Though I'm saying this only for tech roles.

We need to respect labour and compensate for it, whoever it is coming from

Labour needs to respect money, add value, no one would let you leave.

Cribbing when this person is not talented or because of the market right now makes up for two different answers. If the latter is true then sure they're not being unreasonable but if they don't know shit but still expect something then that's just plain arrogance and entitlement. But it's simply not that easy is it? You've to consider their financial obligations and other factors. Not everyone is in the capacity to spend their time for free. Sure I can because my folks can afford to, not everyone :( so I'd say thats somewhat okay to make such a request (hopefully it was requested and not OUTRIGHT DEMANDED)

Not overconfidence , perhaps lack of tact.
