Gatekeeping@ Uber GenAI meetup Hyd

Kinda mainly a rant of how most meetups scheduled in India are gatekept at the highest levels. Applied for the Uber GenAI Meetup 2025 in Hyderabad got the classic “we’re unable to accommodate your registration” email. Honestly, it’s wild how something labeled a “community meetup” turns into a closed-door mini-conference where only a few insiders or people from certain networks get in. These events are supposed to build community not reinforce existing silos. Would’ve loved to actually discuss research, model efficiency, and deployment challenges with other folks working on similar stuff(I have experience building/ working in some of these and have built/ contributed to production level copilot/ agentic products.) But instead, feels like most of these gatherings are curated for a specific circle.
