Forex card or a International Debit card?

Planning for travelling to Vietnam and wanted some suggestions on which card to use. Do I take an debit card? Or a forex card? Or a credit card like Scapia? Also is it better to take an international debit card or a Forex card? Need some help on deciding

Shamelessly gonna plug the product I'm building 👀 but do consider Fi's international debit card :) zero forex + expenses easily tracked in-app. Koi questions ho toh feel free to ask bro

Was considering picking up a forex card for my upcoming journey, but this made me reconsider just using my Fi card tbh

I used Fi when i travelled primarily for 0 forex charges, was extremely convenient to use, no hassle of an additional credit card and was accepted at most terminals. There are ATM withdrawal limits but it was moreee than enough for me to manage my expenses.

Many places in Vietnam are cash only. I converted cash at airport to VND and used Indian credit card.

And later was surprised to recieve cash back for international transactions on credit card (may be ICICI was running some promo which I was not aware)

Debit card worked for cash withdrawal fine as well, although ATMs are difficult to find in some places in Vietnam. Overall considering Hassel of going for forex card and low transaction charges on Indian debit/credit card do consider if it is worth it.

I used my existing ICICI bank coral debit card. Check if you can get a card with lounge access or travel perks.

May be check on sites like Paisa bazaar. Com for comparison of card benefits

Please carry cash, or convert to cash at airport. The POS terminals which accept cards, with charge additional 5%

I used Fi debit card for my Vietnam trip. Wherever a POS was available, I used the same. But keep a few dollars in the form of cash as well.

I used my HDFC International Debit card for transactions in Indonesia and I was charged less than local exchange rate as per I remember.

Take some Vietnamese dong cash with you from india & once there can use international card in ATM

Best to carry cash if you want to avoid unnecessary transaction charges and/or bad exchange rate
