First Milestone - Hope many more to go

Posting here not for bragging but to just let people like me know who look at extraordinary salaries and feel sad - it is possible just believe in yourself. I never thought I’d reach even this.

4.5 years of workex in a non-tech role, started with 35,000 monthly salary.

I know this number might not mean anything to the FAANG tech bros out there but for the rest here is a bit of context -

  • I come from a middle class background
  • Not from Tier 1 college
  • Not a software developer
  • No MBA as of now
  • This doesn’t contain any inheritance
  • Send some money home every month for parents

Dont get overwhelmed, just keep your head down and don’t compare to anyone. I try to keep a strict budget, track every transactions, limit my needs but once a while splurge slightly when I feel like.

See you all at the next milestone! 🍻

Very nice. It is great to see people post their investing stories.

Tip: I feel a Google Sheets doc looks a little less professional so, just like yesterday a ss from a broking platform.

Point taken. The thing is I’m struggling to find a platform that consolidates all my investments- including PPF and FDs and give me an overall picture. Plus I invest most of the Debt component in my mother’s name for Tax purposes hence need to maintain a google sheet for consolidation

What, a spreadsheet is the best way of collecting everything. Just add some stock formulas for live data. Graphs to make it pretty if you will.

All other "apps" that do this are a spreadsheet in one way or another lol

How do I read? You invested 1.3 lakhs and the total returns equal 50 lakhs?

Wow. Does monthly SIP mean anything else?

You are doing a monthly sip for 1.3 lakh? This with a 9-5 job? It's insane! Can you share your journey?

No issue with him doing any amount of sip... Just want to know how he's managing his monthly expense + sip on a salary

Hope u are living life just as much as u seem fixated on investing. U definitely got a good raise sometime after that 35k₹ monthly or u did some part time to keep investing regularly that much. Anyway, good for u but know that u r lucky to have so much capital remaining for doing such regular high investments

Thank you. Yes I live a decent life - live with friends, go on dates with girlfriend, eat out at decent places and dress decently. Just I try to follow a strict budget and don’t chase brands or materialistic things much.

Hey @Sourmask , Just a question, how much % of your income do you direct to investments(SIPs, FDs etc)?

SquishyLlama

Same question.

It’s about 65%. If there’s any amount remaining at the end of the month or my freelance income since that is not fixed I invest that separately
