Executive MBA after 12-13 years of work experience. Is it worth it? Please share your thoughts
I was wondering if a person with 12 years and above experience in a manager position with a consulting firm or a product manager in a product firm should opt for an Executive MBA?
Will it add more finesse to the person's career skills or is it just for the sake of a tag?

It is a bet worth taking. Top 25% of the batch are able to achieve what they aimed for. Depends if you are that. Switching from core to non core functions is tough though.

Few more points might help people give you a better answer -
- Current CTC?
- Are you planning on moving on from your current company after you get your MBA?
- Are you planning on switching your domain?
- Are you referring about a full time program or part time exec certification?
And like someone else mentioned, Why now?

An MBA is supposed to provide a step change in one’s career. This means that s/he should be able to break into roles/industries that may not be in line with the current work experience.
With more than 10 years of experience - the industry/work profile becomes more prominent than educational qualification and hence a domestic Executive MBA might not provide much delta.
However, if one is aspiring for international roles, an executive MBA from a tier 1 global BSchool might be worth considering. Examining the cohort as well as the career change that people have been able to achieve should be the key research elements while evaluating.
One of the key advantages of an MBA is the access to the alumni community that you might want to use for your further career growth.
If one plans to stay in India - then with 10+ years of experience s/he would already have enough network in relevant companies to tap into for career growth.

I feel it will just add the tag, the ROI is not much, last I checked executive MBA from IIM Bangalore was somewhere around 28L and if you take the median placement salary, someone with 12+ YOE may already be above or way above that
