Is it ok if I edit the offer letter to get better counter offers from other companies. And can we use that edited one in our current org to get retained with a good package. Does HR cross check the offer letter from other companies.

Mate! In my company people were fired after joining, because they couldn’t clear Background verification as they had faked counter offers. Dont even think of doing that. I don’t know how companies find it out, but they certainly can

They might verify salary slips in background verification not offer letters which were not accepted
Boss there are lot many apps which can track changes/edits in a pdf document. Also recruiters know the format of offer letters of other organisations and any slight miss in any of the calculations will be easily caught and over all the act is very unethical..just remember the day you learn to cheat yourself .you are done that day only
