Don't know how to deal

Be it whether, I’m on sick leave or I’m on a planned vacation or despite posting a message that I’m out - keeps calling me on my cell phone. Doesn’t matter the time of day. I get chills and anxiety. I’m a senior swe and my manager knows everything im working on. Ideally they should be able to figure out things in my absence. I start feeling guilt if I don’t pick up. Next day when I arrived I’m asked why and what. How should I deal with this? Can’t handle the anxiety and restlessness.

It's normal to get chills n anxiety when ur manager calls u again n again especially when u r leave. My guess is he is being asked questions from leadership about all tasks. Me might not stop calling u but it will surely reduce with below steps
Few things u can do to minimize this calls -

  1. Send accurate status n updates of all the things u r taking care of
  2. If u r part of any discussion, make ur manager aware about it before u go on leave
  3. Build confidence that when u r back u can take it to closure
  4. Build ur backup

I am in your shoes. I left it unchecked for far too long that now I somehow ends up working on my leave days(or have to log in atleast once during my leave day).

The point I am trying to make is that you need to control it before it controls you.

It mostly happens because of incompetent manager/senior who are clueless without you. They have more separation anxiety because of your absence.

Go on SL during important days & make it a point of not picking up the call or keep your ph switched off the whole day. You need to train your mind and your brain. It will consume you if you don't stop.
