Do the Big Tech companies still have that same aura after all the mass firings.

These Big Tech companies like Microsoft, Google, Meta, Amazon, Apple, Salesforce were the dream jobs, dream workplaces, you know if you got into that, your life was settled, you had arrived. Cool workplaces, high salaries, onsite assignments, basically Big Tech employees were the cream of the IT employees.

But last couple of months, feel that the Big Tech aura has somewhat come down. Layoffs are inevitable in Tech world, but the rather clumsy way these companies have handled it rankles. Employees working from long, fired over zoom calls, emails, access disabled. I honestly did not have much expectations from the Desi service companies, having had experience of their terrible work culture, but expected much better from the Big Tech ones.

I think people will still keep aspiring to land a job in the Big Tech firms, but that aura is no longer there.

free money is gone my pals. Wake up. Fed just printed another set of 300 billion for banks. On one hand they were raising rates and now this. Golden period for tech is over. Kill throat competition is waiting for you at the other end.... GAAND lagne wali hain hum sabki. Should have taken core branch. Even if they pay less, at least they are stable.

Frankly, their aura was not because of the Job permanence they used to offer. It was because of their brand value, their package and perks, and their quality of tech & innovation which provides great exposure, learning and experience. And was someone joining them due to the reason of “life settled” (no firing ever)? I don’t think so. People aspire to work there for the brand name, the money and perks, and the tech exposure. How much has the layoff affected their brand value? I would say only a bit, very less. So No, that aura will still be there. People will still rush to join them.
