I bet there are several lockup death conditions before taking that salary

VCs should look more closely into the companies they invest in. I would be furious to know all that money is being wasted to hire 2yr exp guys at 90+ cash component🤦‍♂️. That's worse than spending it on cocaine

2 yrs of work-ex and those numbers. No correlation at all. Even if you're some genius from Tier 1 under grads. People like these get laid off first and then become jobless later on. They will then join some start-up at a paycut.

Indian seed stage cannot really afford this salary. They generally struggle to even match salaries of unicorns etc.

But if the person is getting international remote offers, this could be true

Kinda true

60 LPA would be I guess 25 base 5 jb + retention and other stock vested 4 year

Comp 2 would prolly be in dollars so that’s why it’s so high ig.

Makes some sense yes.

In psychology there is a term called "house money syndrome ". When the startup have to pay salaries from their hard earned Money they won't be this charitable. Since this is almost free money from investors, they are really big hearted.
Those esops aren't worth shit .

Definitely a remote job mostly gets paid in USD or AED.
I'll also try for one once I finish my 2 YoE this October.

Is FAANG overhyped by desi software engineers?

According to me, I can say that FAANG is definitely overhyped. Sure, these companies offer great salaries and some special perks, but they are not the be-all and end-all of a successful career in tech.

First off, the work-life balance...

Am I being underpaid for SDE 2?

I work for a Series A start-up in Bangalore. I have 5 YOE and my current base is 21 LPA and ~5L worth of ESOPs a year.

Seeing Grapevine salary charts, I feel I might be underpaid. Should I negotiate or look for other opportunities or is...
