Do I open up about this at work?

I’ve recently been diagnosed with severe depression and have started medication. It’s been impacting me more than I realized, especially at work. Doctor has advised to take break from work for couple of weeks, but that’s not possible.

I’ve received some subtle feedback about needing to improve my output.

Now I’m stuck wondering — should I be upfront with my manager about what’s going on, or just stay quiet and let the meds (hopefully) do their thing while I work on getting better?

Not sure what the right move is, but would appreciate some perspective.

I am sure what is not the right move - staying quite in same org and just taking medications

Things I believe you can try are,

  1. Based on how the organization and manager is, talk to them and get a break to recover (folks in my org have done that and returned fresh)
  2. Put your energy in preps and move to another org with probably better benefits around mental health, wlb (if that's a problem) etc
