Devotion in India is a declining market!
This is an apartment complex in Bellandur, Bangalore. It is inhabited by techies working in nearby tech parks. The crowd here in this demonstration (shouting Jia Shri Ram) consists of men, women, kids - I can spot very few oldies though!
I always had startup ideas wrt Devotion, people shot it down saying it's a declining market. Lagta hai Devotion Tech startups ke acche din aane waale hain. Thoughts? đ

Very few problems in devotion that tech can solve IMO

Do you think these folks are solving any kind of problem? Is digital access a real need?

Ah, I see. I think this one is uniquely interesting because it's a once in a lifetime kind of an event. But on a regular basis, I'm doubtful if this problem is pressing enough to sustain a business.

Senior citizens usually show devotion with prayers, temple visits and teaching younger generation via devotional stories. The younger crowd is more concerned with âshow-baaziâ. For believers Ram is in everyoneâs heart; itâs a way of living. All this jingoism is politically motivated.

Point is that there is no devotion in these kind of techie crowd.
But devotional products can make things accessible for people. Hopefully these products donât have any biases and caste-based issues.

Idk about market but devotion is also cyclic in most people. Only few remain completely untouched throughout their lifetime.

DevDarshan a startup in devotion space closed funding just few weeks ago.
Good segment to be in.

A devotion aggregator app is what we need. Targeted at age groups 30+.
