Confused Atma - A Tale of Two Offers: Comfort vs Calling

Hi everyone, Here’s a little story part heart, part hustle from a girl trying to figure it all out.

I’ve always believed in making bold moves. After 4 years in the corporate world, I decided to pursue an MBA from a premier B-school. Most of my peers had 1–2 years of experience, while I brought in 4 and as expected, that came with its own set of limitations post-MBA.

I eventually landed a Team Leader role in one of the top tech companies. Great brand. Good pay (₹1L/month). But here’s the catch: it’s a pure tech world, and as someone who’s more drawn to strategy, people, and business growth I’ve often found myself lost in the code.

Let me be real—this wasn’t how I pictured the next chapter of my career. I’ve always dreamed of being a leader in retail, driving expansion, and working on global strategies. But my current role? It's safe, yes. Comfortable, yes. But it’s not me.

And just when I thought the story was dragging, life surprised me with a plot twist.

I got a call from Apple (yes, that Apple) for their Business Pro role—a B2B sales and client consulting position in their upcoming Mumbai stores. I’ve cleared 4 rounds and have 2 more to go. It’s fast-paced, fully on-site, comes with long hours and weekday offs—but also feels like a gateway to the world I want to step into.

Now here’s the other twist—I’m getting married this December 🎉💍 My fiancé has been hoping I’ll shift to Mumbai, where he’s based. Apple’s role is in Mumbai. Even my current company has internal openings there.

So now I’m standing at a triple intersection of:

Career growth vs Comfortable paycheck (and a ₹70K EMI I can’t ignore)

A role I’m excited about vs One I’ve mentally checked out of

A life decision (marriage!) that could be made easier by this move

As a girl, we’re often told to be practical, to choose stability, to avoid too much risk. But the gut feeling in me—the one that’s whispered through every major decision I’ve made—keeps asking: “What if this is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for?”

So here I am, asking this amazing network:

Have you ever made a career shift before/after marriage?

Have you taken a leap into something that excited you but came with real-life tradeoffs?

Would a role like Apple Business Pro help me pivot toward long-term goals in retail leadership?

I know everyone has their own journey, but if mine resonates with you even a little—I’d be so grateful for your thoughts.

Because right now, I’m a girl with a dream, a ring, and a decision to make.

Btw, close your interview rounds first. 🙂 Why to worry about if you will make an omelette or boiled egg when you don't have the egg yet.
