Can anyone guide me please
Hi everyone, I need some guidance regarding a recent situation.
I had a 1:1 conversation with my reporting manager about taking an emergency leave. I had an ankle sprain injury back in February, and recently the pain has returned. I requested a leave (on LOP as i don't have earned leaves), but the conversation didn’t go well. He spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful manner and even argued with me during the discussion.
He suggested that I visit a government hospital in the city I’m currently working in (X location), hospitals here are expensive compared to those in my hometown. During the conversation, he unnecessarily dragged my parents into it, saying things like, “Are your parents also like this…”—which I found completely inappropriate and unprofessional.
What made it more uncomfortable was that, in front of my colleagues, he started showing hospital addresses on one of their laptops and made suggestions openly, which felt quite embarrassing and invasive. He also made a comment that I have a “childhood mindset,” which felt very dismissive and insulting.
I’m unsure how to proceed, but I feel this behavior crossed a line. I want to raise this issue with my project manager, but I’m looking for suggestions on the best and most professional way to approach this. Would that be the right step, or is there a better way to handle it?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
