Don't go for seltos. There are better options available. Don't worry about learning. I booked zoomcar for 8 days and then next day bought the new car.

What are the better options and why not seltos

Build quality is not strong. Pickup not great.
Tell me your budget

Seltos owner here. Go for it. It’s an amazing vehicle. While I do agree that the external build quality could be better, I absolutely disagree with the ‘pickup not great’ statement. It’s the fastest car in the segment (gtx+ and x line) with 160bhp of power and the most fun to drive after the German twins. After sales can depend on your location but I’ve had a really good experience so far.

How did you make the decision between creta top model, seltos or going with xuv700 ax5 ?

CosmicPotato

It was easy between the creta and seltos as the seltos was the updated model and the new creta was not yet launched. I had a really bad experience with my previous car (nexon) and did not want to risk on reliability as I know a few horror stories with the XUV although I am aware that M&M cars are nowadays much ahead than Tata in terms of after sales and quality.

Don't buy a new car until you get good. Get a small cheap 2nd hand car that you can use to practise and make mistakes of.

I got a new i20 and learnt on it. Worth it. I wouldn’t prefer second hand cars cuz you’ll want a new one in no time. And get the car you wouldn’t regret 5-7 years down the line. I had booked Swift but cancelled it 2 days later and went for Hyundai.
Start driving in traffic (commute to and from the office and grocery stores) and you’ll be upto speed within 1-2 weeks.

Get a Toyota, the most reliable car out there. Mine runs smoothly even today after 11 years

Just leaving it here, same engine gearbox combo, There were also gearbox overheating complaints in kia sonnet automatic, DYOR before taking the plunge.

Get a 2nd hand car for cheap. Practice with it a lot. You’ll be in much better position to make a better judgement of which car to buy after an year or so.

Make sure to get the maximum extended warranty you can. Sales will try to wiggle out of selling it. The DCT gearbox is notorious for failures and will cost lakhs to fix. But it's still the most fun to drive, so won't recommend against it.

If your running is 90%+ city and you live in a good place that can have a plug point at parking slot, do test drive electric options like the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona. Lesser moving parts, nothing to service. Easier for new drivers to get used to and costs less than an activa to run.

Kia is a shit brand. Look for cards which have good ncap rating.
It’ll pay up over the years. Safety over features brother.
