Bangalore vs Hyderabad vs Pune: For next 20-30 years, which city offers better prospects for Settling down

For your horizon of next 2-3 decades, some tier 2 cities will offer what these 3 cities you mentioned are right now offering. I'm positively disillusioned with the haphazard growth of Bangalore, Pune and to some extent Hyd. Call me cynical but beyond a bubble of tech ecosystem and fancy pubs/food joints, these cities are offering less and less in terms of quality of life. Have been staying in Pune for more than a decade now, and the city has gone to dogs. There's no political willpower to bring infrastructural improvements whatsoever. I lived in Ahmedabad briefly for a couple of years and the city is immensely livable and has the best food scene. Infrastructure is great. There is small IT industry right now but in next 2 decades it will grow. Only downside is weather and lack of alcohol (if you can't do without it). Nagpur is another city that has great infrastructure and the govt is bringing lot of investments. All the desi IT services biggies are there. Education is top notch. Food is good. Connectivity is excellent. Imo if you are able to get a remote work role, then it doesn't matter if something or the other is missing.

PS - I'm considering a shift to Nagpur because my company shut down our office in Pune. I'm from Nagpur so it makes sense for me. Still lot of factors to consider though.

Bangalore.

I’m doing this exact research right now.

If you have to decide in 3-5 years it will be Bengaluru, hands down. Rapid growth, great culture and space left to grow more. But, in The next two three decades, the haphazard growth patterns in current economic centres will make them untenable for a living atmosphere imho.

So, what are the next cities that will rise? Chennai - If you ignore the weather, the well connected city is a great hub for startups and tech Surat and Ahmedabad - Very well connected cities that are focusing on tech infra Bhubaneswar - Odisha is very friendly towards outside investments and has been investing a lot on infra in recent years. Kochi - Already a small hub but interconnectedness will push it to the next level Indore - Great city, great food, some really cool startups

Some cities that I hope regain prosperity are Lucknow - Excellent weather and general culture for business Kanpur - Well-connected and can be developed into an ecommerce giant hub if manufacturing is brought back
Kolkata - Some of the best public transport and emptier outskirts that can allow for rapid growth (the government situation might also change in a decade or so)

All of these have a caveat considering recent climate developments, most Indian cities will probably be unlivable by 2050 so maybe places like Dehradun will reign supreme instead

GIFT city

None of the three. All three are bursting in seams. Bangalore is certainly bursting. My guess they will go like Mumbai. Crowded and shitty.

Drawing parallels from China, US and Europe. I guess all these cities will become mega hubs with mega suburbs

Look at Delhi and rapidX connection upto 100km. Even hyd is proposing rapidX. Pune and Mumbai already connected and they will have bullet train. The pune, Mumbai and Nashik triangle may have the largest population in future.

Bangalore - Hosur and hoskote is merging. With another airport proposed on the western side, expect the city to expand toward mysore highway. I expect tumkuru and Devanahalli also to grow crazy.

Other cities will also grow but it depends how each city will reinvent itself quickly.

I will definitely choose Chandigarh. IT is less, but the city itself and the location is unbeatable.
