Are most big4 managers toxic?
Is it just the industry we work in, or are most big4 mgrs assholes? I’ve been in two jobs and have a total of 5 years of experience and somehow managed to land toxic managers both times. I see a lot of my peers complaining too. Is it just me and the bubble that I’m in? Please share your experience if you have a good manager - I need to see some light at the end of the tunnel, feeling super low right now.

It's the vicious circle. They were treated like shit from their managers and that toxic style gets normalized. Generally those managers who were groomed in big4 setup behave like that. I have seen managers hired from non Big4s, have fresh perspective but that goes away in a year. Another reason is they are treated like shit from their managers. There is always an unnecessary passive aggression and they want everyone to be groomed like that. Making mistake seems as if committed a crime. Unfortunately only way is to move out and get a fresh experience.

I think very few managers are able to break out of this cycle of "abuse" - those who do build amazing teams and people love working for them.

Yes just remember what happened to that poor girl from EY who was harassed and so much pressure ultimately resulted in her death.

It was SO sad..

Thank you for calling me toxic 😆 Well i/ other managers arent CEO and its not my company. What comes from the top flows to the bottom. I used to think like you only to understand the plight of managers sandwiched b/w teammates and higher management. Its not the managers, its the culture the company propagated. “Survival of the best” - We are also struggling, you will understand in a few years my friend
