Am I eligible for SDE2 if I am 1.6 yrs of experience?

Working as android dev for 1.6yrs. I am looking to switch jobs but most of the openings asks for 3-6+ for SDE2 with very few asking 1+. What is the correct experience wrt to role. My senior has five years and is now SSDE1.

YoE !== Skill

Refer to a programmer competency metrix, for a SDE2 level, you need to be at Level 1 for at least half the skills (the more the better)

But most job opening are putting YOE as expectation and mentioning 2+ or 3+

That's okay, you can still apply if you believe you have the necessary set of skills. A decent hiring manager would look at the skills, not the YoE numbers. YoE ranges are what are normally expected for a certain role.

If you are able to answer these 2 questions without looking around, you are eligible for SDE2

  1. Can you implement coroutine using Java threads?
  2. Can you implement ViewModel without using Android libraries?
