Not sure what OP means by damage done. Making a country pay $7 billion for the lives of 8 citizens is not damage done to anyone.
It just shows that the Indian government isn’t able to use any diplomatic channels to find a solution. It can obviously be argued that the Qatar government / judiciary has worked opaquely in this case but given the levers India could have pulled, this still remains a huge diplomatic blunder.
The last time this happened was to a Nepali citizen. Can you imagine the same happening to an American or a Britisher?

If 57000 cr is something they were really supposed to pay, then can't really call it "damage" even if they're forced to pay. Especially when 8 Indians lives at stake.
