A speacial place in hell for Hotstar
Showing 3 ads every 10 mins to users who have paid for subscriptions is silly and stupid. They are running out of ideas and happy to see Hotstar content moving to JioCinemas. Put an end to this nonsense

I often wonder...
Are Ads that impactful? Like would a years worth of advertising that Hotstar shows me
- make me buy stuff
- which makes enough gross margin
- 20% or whatever X% of that is the %marketing that they spare for Hotstar alone
would be around 1500Rs, the annual Hotstar fee?

Even food tracking screens in food delivery apps are doing Nano ads. 🤦♂️

Sorry to say, Jiocinema also shows unskippable ads for premium users 😆. I paid 999 for jio cinema premium subscription to watch HBO content. Every episode in a TV show is rigged with a 1 min unskippable ad. 🤷

They have gone crazy with the days. Many a times I get same ad, played 4 to 6 times in each episode. It become so irritating that I let go of my subscription money and don't watch JC all together.
Bad philosophy I feel, which may back fire in long run. I may as well watch TV, at least there is some variety in ads.

Soon youtube will also show like 1 ad to premium members and a million to free users now that they have banned ad blocker

This is what happens when ideas are copied. Netflix which was the original OTT idea. They wanted thier idea to work so they focused on content. These cheap copies think that India is a billion people market and can sell any shit. Without good content they rely of advt to sell their products. Am scared for the day reliance becomes the major market player in all these. Then there will be an advt every 5 mins.

Jiocinema is even worst , yesterday watching hustle in jiocinema for every 10 mins they are showing 11/2 second ads , I am not a subscribed user, I think browsers with ad blockers would have a better chance

This is reason I have switched to Netflix, Amazon prime and Apple Tv.

That aside, allow me to commend whoever took the photo on their skills. Very well framed with the TV edges parallel and equidistant from the image edges. You must be one OCD designer I'd like to work with

Lol
